7 Common Mistakes Scooter Riders Make

7 Common Mistakes Scooter Riders Make
Scooters can give you a relaxed easy going atmosphere type of feeling. And when that happens you can overlook or make mistakes when it comes to your scooter. So here are seven common mistake scooter drivers make.

1. Lock it or Lose it! – To some people, the thought of someone taking their scooter may not ever even cross your mind. Thinking to themselves. "Oh...I live in a nice neighborhood, or I'll only in the store for a few minutes." Well think again. Do not let this happen to you. Ensure your scooter is securely fastened or locked to an unmovable object when leaving it behind. 2. Turn Signals & Mirrors – Often riders will just hop on their scooters and take off. Very rarely do they properly check their mirrors and turn signal first. On a scooter, you have very little protection; it is of dire importance that you make sure your blind spots are clear by using either a head or mirror check. Do not assume it’s safe to go. Once you have checked and the coast is clear, click on your turn signal regardless if there is oncoming traffic or not. 3. Stay in Your Lane! – There are lines on the road for a reason! Make sure to ride in the middle of your lane of your lane. Not too far on the left or right. This will keep you in the safest position from oncoming vehicles and drivers that may pull out in front of you because they did not check their mirrors and signal correctly! 4. Too Many Riders!? – 1st when if comes to 50cc scooters, they are meant to carry only 1 person at a time and larger scooters should never carry anymore than 2 people. Cramming 3 and 4 individuals on a scooter is illegal and a risk for so many lives. This is simply not acceptable. 5. Sidewalks – When approach a slow moving traffic on a scooter, the last think you should do is pass on the sidewalk or bike lane. Not only is it illegal and you could be ticketed with caught. But you're risking hit and seriously injuring a pedestrians with you powerful motorized vehicle. 6. Out of Gas – Running out of gas can sometimes just sneak up riders. Either it seems like the fuel gauge is a half way one minute and drops to empty the next or you just simple forget to check your gas level. Either way I recommend to fill up your gas tank if you see it below ¼ of a tank. Because a ¼ tank uselessly means you have around 10-25 minutes worth of driving left. 7. Not Enough Space! – Buy more items than you have room to carry. maybe you only when to the store for a few item but you found yourself buying more than you expected and know there's no where to place it. So there's are what I found to be the seven common mistakes Scooter owners mistakes on a weekly basis.
