Chinese Scooters: Why Do People Hate Them! What is it about them, for people to have such strong opinions on them. You'll hear a lot of people talk about them and how they think Chinese scooters are complete garbage. Well, here I'm going to break down what it is that has scooterist so triggered by these scooter brands specifically manufactured and imported from China. So lets look at the facts. Chinese scooters are being mass produced and sold by the lots. At an extremely alarming speed, I mind you. Which begs the question...How? Some of you may know a few of the more popular Chinese scooter brands like Tao Tao, Znen, or Lifan but there are a lot of less known manufactures where you're from like Zongshen, Xingyue, Baotian, and many others. These companies all have one specific thing in common. Quantity over Quality. Basically, they're cheaply made in order to keep manufacture cost down and production speed up. Making Chinese scooters not the most reliable scooters or even the safest when it comes to driving in heavy traffic areas. It's because of that same lack of reliability that very few mechanics service these scooters and even fewer if any walk-in dealerships actually sell them. I use the term "walk-in dealer", because 85% of the time, when someone does purchase a Chinese scooter, it's from an online website. There are loads of copycat sites out there promoting and selling the same exact scooter, under completely different names, for completely different prices. When you buy one of these Chinese scooters online, you're buying a "scooter in a box". Despite whatever name may be on the box, you really don't know exactly who made it, what parts or components were used for it, what their quality regulations were, or even whether the scooter was road-safe tested before shipping to you. Almost always you will be required to do some assembly. Whether its installing the front wheel or attaching the mirrors.
