Donating Moped Scooter for Tax Credit Donating your scooter or vehicle to charity can be a great way to get a 2020 federal tax deduction. But keep in mind that state income tax deductibility depends on state law. I only bring this up because its that time of year that where you have to file your tax and had no idea that this was a thing. Now if you are seriously considering donating so, be mindful that the charity donation program will take a tax deduction based on their vehicle’s market value no matter how much or how little the scooter can be sold for. which means determining the market value of a donated scooter is really challenging and time-consuming, which made determination of the amount of the tax deduction confusing. With that being said when filing the donation on your taxes you need to keep records of the Charity's name and address, the date you donated it, description of you ride and a written letter from the charity confirming the donation. So if you are feeling charitable this year around and you have a working scooter laying around that you don't ever use, hey why not donate it.
